Wedding is a celebration in which couples begin their married life. Concept and customs of marriage varies between countries, religions, casts, cultures. Marriage also depends on economic condition of bride and grooms family. But both Eastern and western marriages has its own importance. Nuptial is the common adjective of “wedding” used in zoology.
Wedding rings or wedding vows symbolizes the Western wedding, where as wedding chain symbolizes the Eastern wedding. There are many differences between Eastern and western wedding for example differences in wedding reception, wedding halls, wedding party and many other things.
Wedding reception is very common in western wedding ceremonies. Some times receptions are arranged after wedding, some times before. Commonly receptions arrange in evening times. Dinner in reception is quite different from other dinners. Western wedding include dance, music, orchestras, poetry, prayer.
Some traditions of Western wedding represents the bride’s and her father’s relationship and her relationship with new family. Some traditions symbolizes the relationship between husband and wife. Modern couples are not giving importance to these tradition. Day by day these customs are vanishing.
Wedding rings plays very big role in every western marriage. Wedding rings are the sign of expressing one’s love and affection to his beloved. It is the symbol of faith and confidence. The moment of exchanging Wedding rings between bride and groom is unforgotten memory in their life. It symbolizes future relationship of couples.
Best man concept
Best man concept is commonly associated with western weddings, especially in British tradition. Best man is responsible to present wedding rings during the symbolic moment of exchange of ring/s between the bride and the groom in front of all guests at wedding hall.
In western countries, wedding is a great moment which gives a new life to both bride and groom. Marriage is a precursor to parenthood, taking the promise of a new generation. This precious moment is embedded with traditions, customs, celebrations including engagement and wedding receptions.
In respect to dress of bride, white plays an important role
In respect to dress of bride, white plays an important role in ritual of wedding in western culture. As new designs of wedding gowns are available, today brides may attracted towards these designs that do not look very traditional. However, The tradition of wearing wedding gowns in western weddings, has unchanged. There are different types of Wedding are followed in western culture. They are Double wedding, Destination wedding, weekend wedding, white wedding, military wedding, civil wedding, sneak wedding etc.
Double wedding is a single celebration where two arranged couples meet for two continuous marriages. In some of the countries like Philippines, Indonesia marriage of two siblings in a year is recognized as unfortunate and it is declared as “sukob”. A marriage in which couple and their guests travel from one place to another to attend the ceremony is known as Destination wedding. This type of weddings are arranged in beaches in the Caribbean islands. It is a type of wedding in which couples and all their invited guests celebrate the ceremony during the weekend is known as weekend wedding. Commonly golf tournaments are arranged in weekend weddings to entertain guests. The name indicates the color of the wedding gown, which was highly popular in Victorian period which represent the purity and innocence of childhood. As grown white color symbolizes virginity.
A military wedding
A military wedding is a marriage held at a military chapel. In almost all military weddings the groom wear a military uniform. Military soldiers and their family members commonly opt for a military wedding.
Wedding ceremony presided over by ministers, judges, mayors and other civil authorities or any great personalities. civil wedding commonly takes place in local cities, town halls or in front of judge in court yards. Marrying without consent or approval of parents or others is known as Sneak wedding.
Most people will say that wedding photography is both an art and a science. You need to capture the right emotions during key times that can not be recreated. So how much does a wedding photographer cost? I will tell you this much, you will usually get what you pay for. This includes the creativity and time spent to create something unique. A professional wedding photographer in Copenhagen works very hard for the fee they request.
You want your wedding to be perfect, and nothing is more important than the images from your once in a lifetime special event. You will look back on these photos ten or twenty years from now reflecting on these precious memories. What do you expect from your wedding photographer? Do you want something simple, or something truly customized to your needs? This is a question you will have to ask yourself before finding out how much a wedding photographer will cost.
Well have you decided on what you’re looking for yet? Before you do, you will need to understand the difference between cheap and good. I am sure you heard the slogan, ‘Cheap is not good and good is not cheap’. You will usually get what you pay for. As mentioned earlier this will be reflected in the time and energy put into your wedding day.
Knowing that your memories are on the line, you will have to feel comfortable with the wedding photographer you hire for your special occasion. Do you get the vibe that they will be able to deliver on your wedding day? Can they handle the expectations you have set for them? The best advice is to look over their portfolio and see if you notice any trends. If you do, then you are probably dealing with a cookie cutter service that does not step outside the sphere of influence often. Another Biggie is recent references from brides within the last six months. These people will be able to tell you how they felt about their decision and the wedding photographer you are considering.
Buyer beware, there are many part time hobbyist out there that claim the title as a full time devoted wedding specialist. When looking over their portfolios do you notice color and emotion? Do their pictures tell a story about the day as it unfolds? Some different poses and indoor outdoor shots will give you an idea of the imagination of the vendor you are working with.
This has to be one of the most important aspects of the choice you make. For example, many cheap wedding photographers in Copenhagen might not carry this trait. If they do, then their prices may be set low to acquire business because of a lack of referrals. You will have to do the investigating to figure out how their prices compare and what is the reasoning behind their pricing structure.
It never ceases to amaze me that most brides make decisions based on pricing alone. This is a big no no when it comes to hiring the company that can make or break the entire evening let alone day. Going back to what we said earlier price should be the least important factor. Now I would like you to think really hard for one moment.
Do you want your wedding reception and wedding ceremony pictures to be average
Honestly, no bride does. Your wedding is different from all the others being planned. So how does your photographer set him/herself apart from the competition? Do they bring additional assistants to get more than one perspective? What is the turn around time on the proofs? To help you distinguish between the average and the exceptional, I have laid out a couple of helpful tips on how to choose a wedding photographer below.
Why hire a professional wedding photographer
First of all you will have piece of mind knowing that you are in good hands. The last thing you need to be is stressed on your wedding day wondering if the photographer is going to show up. Now you many save hundreds by cutting corners and going with a lower priced service, but it may cost you thousands later down the road. Looking back on those precious images will they hold up to the standards and quality that you were expecting? Also a professional wedding photographer has to be able to finesse themselves into intimate situations to get the shot. This means having the courtesy not to compromise that special moment just to get the shot.
How do I search for a professional wedding photographer
If you stumbled upon this article, then you are searching over the web. This is a good place to start to get a general idea of what is expected. From there I would setup up several consultations to see their work and discuss their packages. Something to pay close attention to is the way they handle their consultation. Are you just another bride, or do they work extra hard to make sure you completely understand the options and how they will personalize your day? If you are hung up on the pricing, then you may ignore their reasoning and justifications until you get a price and that can cloud your decision.
Another good place to start the hunt for the photographer is through friends and family. They will also be able to tell you of their experiences and results. Make sure to get references and check with at least three of them. Most wedding photographers in Michigan will travel. Find out what their coverage area is if you are planning a destination wedding.
Narrow down the list of photographers for your wedding
Now that you are a pro at interviewing and knowing what to expect, you may be on the fence with several companies. Do not get me wrong, price is important but going back to the main question you will have to find out what you want. Not all photographers are created equally so you will have to find the one that suits your particular style. Several different styles are traditional, classic, and casual candid. You may also what to check with the cinematic or photojournalistic approaches. A professional wedding photographer will be able to distinguish and explain the different approaches better.
When do I speak with my wedding photographer company
Everyone is different on this issue. Personally a reputable company will want to maintain a close relation and constant communication with their client to ensure a mutual understanding. However, some may have a few conversations over the phone or in their studio to finalize the details. Either way, it is important that you express exactly what you want so that the two of you are on the same page.
The photographer you are speaking with, will they be the one shooting on your big day? Make sure to see the portfolio shots of the actual photographer that will be shooting on your wedding day.
The real question to ask, is how much will I be getting in value. This price range can vary between $1,000 to $10,000. You can expect to pay a minimum of $1,500 for a small Sunday wedding and a minimum of $2,500 for a small Saturday wedding. If you are offered a package for less than $1,000 then you are probably dealing with a cheap wedding photographer that does not have the experience. Most couples under estimate the cost of their photographer by as much as 50%! A good rule of thumb is to expect to pay twice as much as you are considering. A typical wedding photographer is usually 15-25% of the total wedding cost.
How Much Time Does a Professional Wedding Photographer require in order to give me what I need
The time your photographer spends on your wedding, will depend on what type of events you will have. No two weddings are the same, and your options vary. This includes:
Rehearsal dinners and services
Formal bride and bridesmaid photography prior to the wedding
Formal bride and groom photography prior to the wedding
Leaving the church (post ceremony)
Formal group photographs
Reception photography, including grand entrance, speeches, toasts, first dance, father daughter dance, mother son dance, bridal party dance, cake cutting, bouquet and garter, and final departure from the reception.
How many wedding photographs should I get
Many professional wedding photographers include the cost of proofs in their packages. These proofs are typically 4×6″ prints. The amount of proofs will depend on how much film is shooting. The minimum is roughly 120-150 shots. This is a typical number to work from, because from there you can select the best shots for your album or to be enlarged.
About those wedding photography negatives, who keeps them
Some Michigan wedding photographers will keep the negatives and have their brides order reprints after the wedding reception. These photographers make a portion of their income from these orders and enlargements. These photographers will usually keep the negatives on file for 2 years giving you the option to order if necessary. Other wedding photographers in Michigan will give back the negatives for you to use. Keep in mind that this option may be more costly since you will only have to use their services once. Make sure to ask this question to find out what exactly happens to the negatives after the wedding.
Many photographers in Copenhagen offer packages with their services that cover a variety of options. This way you can select the one that best fits with what you are looking for. It is sometimes more effective to have the wedding photographer arrange the album (if it is included in your package), because they will have the creativity of arranging the images in a way that tells a story. Not only will this save you time, but this cost is usually a small percentage of the total price. However the cost will depend on a couple of different things:
Time allowed to photograph the wedding ceremony and reception
The amount of wedding proofs/photos
The number of enlargements requested
The overall layout and type of photo albums. You can have them for your parents or just different themes. As mentioned earlier the cost is usually not that significant however the more expensive albums will have a better quality and longer life span.
Is black and white wedding photography still in style
A more traditional approach to wedding photos is black and white instead of color. This will give a timeless feel with a touch of elegance. Your wedding photographer should offer B&W along with color photos. You can always change a color picture into B&W, but a pro will shoot the negative in black and white. The impression that black and white photos will give is amazing, and usually these pictures are more costly. Any reputable wedding photographer should have a printer dedicated solely to printing these images.
Final considerations for a Wedding Photographer in Copenhagen
So we laid out 10 points above on how to narrow down the gap between the wedding photographers you are looking at. A couple of final considerations are the type of lighting your photographer will be using, the equipment/filters, how many assistants, and photo copyrights. Now that you have been given some great advice on how to choose a wedding photographer, it is up to you to make the final decision.

These tips assume that you are going to be using your regular hairdresser to plan your style and on your wedding day. However if you plan to style your hair yourself, you can easily follow the same timetable and I have added some extra tips for you.
1. Plan! Plan! Plan! The earlier you start to plan the better. This gives you the chance to get your hair into the best condition possible and to have practice runs with your hairdresser trying out different styles and colors as well as trying out veils, tiaras and flowers. Ideally start this process 6 months before.
2. Collect pictures of possible hairstyles from all different magazines not just wedding magazines and discuss them with your hairdresser at least 4 months before your big day.
3. Each time you go to the hairdressers to try out a potential wedding day style take photos to help you remember what you liked about it for future reference and take someone with you whose opinion you can trust.
4. Make the most of what youve already got, maximize your good points rather than going for a look that isnt really you.
5. Start weekly conditioning treatments at least 3 months before your wedding.
6. Give you hair a break from harsh styling methods and equipment; this will help with getting your hair in tip-top condition.
7. If you are having flowers in your hair have a trial run with your hairdresser a couple of months before and make sure you have your appointment booked for the wedding day.
8. One month before have a trial run with your veil/ tiara and finalize with your hairdresser the style you have decided upon.
9. If you are having an updo on the day, wash your hair the night before as just-washed hair can be harder to manage.
10. Make sure you have an SOS kit on your big day, which you can give to the bridesmaid with the biggest handbag! – Plenty of hairgrips and pins in a matt color in a shade similar to your hair, hairbrush, tail comb, hairspray and shine spray.
Extra tips if you are doing your hairstyling yourself
1. As well as planning your style in the months before your wedding you need to try out various styling products so that you can be confident that the ones you are using on the day will make your hair look its best.
2. To avoid your hair being flat use most styling product on the roots.
3. Hair products from the same range are designed to work together.
4. Have a trial run with your veil and tiara on the style you have chosen. To fix them into your hair, use clear combs and matt grips in a similar shade to your hair. If its practical, keep them in your hair for a few hours to make sure they have staying power and to avoid having a slipping veil and tiara on the day.
Gone are the days when all wedding ceremonies were conducted in religious surroundings and required the blessing of God. Whilst the majority of people still opt for a traditional ceremony, more and more people are looking at new and innovative ways to get married.
When planning wedding ceremonies, it is important to think carefully about what you hope to achieve, what sort of atmosphere are you going to create and, indeed, what your guests would enjoy. The wedding day, itself, should be planned with the bride and groom in mind; however, it is always wise to consider your guests. Just think about it, getting married whilst descending white water rapids may not be such a good idea if few of your guests can swim!
Although wedding ceremonies can take place in almost any type of environment, you should ensure that the individual conducting your ceremony is licensed, so that you can be certain that your wedding is legally valid.
People are becoming more and more imaginative when it comes to wedding ceremonies, in an attempt to be different from the rest. Of course, if both bride and groom enjoy a similar hobby, a theme may be very obvious. For example, if you are both divers, getting married under water or maybe bungee jumping if you both enjoy throwing yourselves off bridges!
Not all wedding ceremonies are as dramatic as these
Not all wedding ceremonies are as dramatic as these, non-religious options; but simple ceremonies, in general, are becoming increasingly popular. Not only are people opting for simplicity, because it tends to work out cheaper, but also because of the increase in the number of second weddings taking place. Couples, especially second time round, are generally keen to ensure that they opt for smaller, elite gatherings of close friends and family, with a stronger emphasis on quality rather than quantity.
Many venues now offer the complete service and it is well worth looking at your favorite hotels to see if they have a license to perform wedding ceremonies. By keeping everything in one venue it will be easier to control the flow of the day and to ensure that guests are not concerned with transport, throughout the day.
Even the vows taken during wedding ceremonies are becoming more modern and tailored to an individuals desire. Those getting married can now write their own vows so that they really mean something special for their individual circumstances.
Arguably, the trend towards creating your own wedding ceremonies allows individuals to really put their own stamp on their special day. After all, it is your day so why shouldnt you have it all your own way?
Elsie Gilbert offers great insights to all different types of wedding ceremonies, wedding styles, wedding accessories. From traditional to the exotic she makes it easy for the bride and groom to review and choose.
You’ve found the perfect venue: old oaks, a stone wall, a gazebo, acres of fragrant jasmine and honeysuckle, and even a small, clear pond. Now it’s time to take the garden wedding of your dreams a little further. Let’s start with invitations.
Garden Theme Invitations
The right invitation says “old world” and “hand made.” Artistic? Hand-paint a flower design, scan it in to your computer and fade it into the background of your invitations. Or collect and press wildflowers and violets to include.
Accent your invitations with small brass buttons or charms. Seal the envelope with sealing wax and a seal that ties into your wedding: a seashell, a flower, a swan.
Raised lettering on your vellum overlays makes for a beautiful antique look. And no, you don’t have to purchase invitations to achieve it. You can do it yourself with a printer (ideally a laser printer), embossing powder and a heat gun (or hair dryer). Garden Theme Decorations
Look for cozy round tables, and set a large outdoor umbrella over each one. Use several layers of linens; the bottom one a solid color (not necessarily ivory or white), and the top, a coordinating print reminiscent of chintz or calico.
Use unbleached muslin and tulle to set the stage, and avoid bridal white. Choose peach, sand and mushroom tones instead — anything that complements the sepia photographs of forebears you’ll want to set on the tables. Use tea to safely dye anything you have on hand that’s just too white.
For mood lighting, you’ll want pillar candles, but not the ordinary sort — the kind that’s trimmed with small lampshades. Decorate the shades to suit the mood, with silk fringes and braids.
Comb thrift stores for colorful floral china (we routinely find full services there for cheap). Stack a larger, contrasting plate under a smaller. Use the most vivacious color combinations you can get away with.
Garden Theme Centerpieces
For a simple, one-minute centerpiece, gather a handful of old-fashioned spiral lollipops. Arrange loosely in mason jars.
To get a rise out of your guests, make or buy breadsticks redolent of thyme or rosemary, and display on end in a pitcher or galvanized bucket.
You’ll be in good “chair” when you make these adorable centerpieces: use wrought-iron doll-sized chairs from garden stores. Lay moss or wheat grass on the seat, and twine ivy or flower garlands through the back and arms.
For music at your garden wedding, almost anything goes — as long as it’s live. Call your local college for some inexpensive combos. Harps and violins or flutes and guitars — it hardly matters, as long as your musicians can breathe and eat lunch.
Your boyfriend has proposed and it is time to make a decision on the most important detail of your wedding: The wedding dress.
The choices are many. Should it be sleeveless, short, long, lacey, sequined or plain? So many questions to ask yourself, although you are sure of one thing, it needs to be perfect.
As soon as the planning begins for the big day
As soon as the planning begins for the big day, choosing your wedding dress becomes somewhat of an urgency for most brides, who do not want to wait until the last minute. While dealing with wedding stress and preparations, be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to try on different styles and find the one who says you.
The theme of your wedding will be an important point when selecting that special dress. Are you getting married on the beach? If so, you might choose a light airy style. Have you decided on a formal affair? Then by all means, go all out and wear a white dress covered in silk and lace. Whatever type of occasion your wedding will be, your dress will play one of the most important roles in it!
Its also important to think about the month and season you are getting married in. If you are having a middle of summer wedding, then you probably shouldnt wear a wedding dress with double layers or long sleeves. After all, this is supposed to be the most memorable day of your beginning together. You dont want the biggest memory to be how much you perspired throughout the ceremony!
When choosing a wedding dress
When choosing a wedding dress, try on comfortable styles. Walk around in them, if kneeling is part of your ceremony, then kneel in the dress and be sure you are not going to be uncomfortable in your choice. The beauty of the dress is only half of your decisionthe other half is looking beautiful, happy and elegant. You cannot look happy if you are holding your breath so seams do not pop or youre itchy from the lace on your arms.
One mistake that a lot of brides tend to make when choosing a wedding dress is with the size. If you are planning on losing weight before your big day, do not buy a dress the size you think you may be come the wedding day. Instead buy the size you are on the day you choose the dress. It will always be easier to take a dress in if it is too big, than to add material for a dress that ended up being too small.
With the expense of weddings
With the expense of weddings, some couples try and cut back by making their own flowers, having a family member bake the wedding cake or hiring a friend to take wedding photos. Although it is okay to cut back and still have your dream wedding, dont skimp when choosing your wedding dress. If you cannot afford to hit a wedding boutique and pay their prices, try wedding consignment shops, who offer like new dresses at an affordable price.
Whatever style, color or price range you decide on when choosing your wedding dress, remember that you are still You and that is who your fiance fell in love with, not your dress, which will only add to the ambiance of your day.
After you have chosen your wedding dress hang it in the bag it comes in and do not over show it. Give guests something to look forward to as they see you for the first time walking down the aisle. And unless it is unavoidable, do not let your future husband see your dress at all before the wedding. Its bad luck!
Styles and choices in wedding bands have changed drastically over the past few years. Because everyone seems to be looking for something that is unique and different, jewelers are offering more choices than ever before. This leads to a small dilemma, however.
With so many different styles now being offered, how do you know whether the band you choose is truly unique? People dont want something that is just a non-traditional style anymore. People want something that no one else has anywhere. This can be a tall order to fill. Still, even if you cant manage something completely unique, at least you can find a wedding band that is different enough it will get attention and possibly turn a few heads.
This is perhaps the best way to find a truly unique wedding band. It is also one of the most expensive. Although the Internet makes custom ordering much more accessible than it ever was before, you can still expect to pay more for your custom ordered band than you would for any other type of wedding ring. If you are completely set on having a truly unique wedding band, however, this is the way to go.
A very interesting style of wedding band that has started becoming popular is the tension set wedding band. These rings are not a traditional solid circle but instead have a split in the design. In this split a stone is set so that it is held in place by the tension of the opposing ends of the ring. There are positive and negative aspects to choosing a ring with a tension setting, but it is a design that gets noticed. Tension set wedding bands can be custom ordered as well, so the opportunity is still there for something truly unique.
Wedding bands with attractive Celtic design patterns have been rising in popularity, but are still far from the norm. With so many different Celtic braid and weave designs available, it is easy to have a ring that at least appears to be unique. There are a lot of companies that can do Celtic designs according to custom specifications as well and, because these companies specialize in this type of work, a custom ordered Celtic wedding band is often less costly than other types of custom bands. When looking for a unique wedding band, a Celtic design may be the way to go.
It is often said that there is nothing new under the sun. This old adage may be true, but there are at least options in every situation. The search for a unique wedding band need not be fruitless. Even if you cant find or afford a true one-of-a-kind ring, the options and differences in styles available will at least help you find something that is unique to you. And isnt that really all you could ask for? If your wedding band is consistently admired and you hear the question Whered you get that quite often, you can feel satisfied that youve found a unique wedding band.
Just as destination weddings are fast growing in popularity, so are destination wedding dresses.
What exactly is a destination wedding dress? It is a trendy, sensible, cost effective alternative to the traditional wedding gown.
You don’t have to be leaving town to choose a destination wedding dress. The name lends itself to the fact that these bridal gowns are usually made of softer, lighter fabrics that pack easily and travel well.
However, these informal wedding gowns are nothing less than spectacular with sleek lines, and simple designs. Today, more and more brides-to-be are choosing to stray from the multi layers of frill and lace in favor of the simplistic beauty of a destination wedding dress.
Lightweight fabrics such as chiffon, organza, silk, rayon, crepe or crinkle cotton are extremely popular and practical. They are cool, elegant and comfortable. The lightweight, wrinkle resistant qualities of such fabrics make your precious wedding gown very “packable”.
Styles range from truly elegant full length gowns to romantic tea length. Sexy slip dresses and halter styles are also very popular and beautiful. For a casual beach wedding dress, consider a sarong or a Hawaiian holoku.
The cost for such a dress itself warrants consideration, especially for the frugal bride on a tight budget. You can easily keep the cost of your beach wedding dress under $300.00 without sacrificing style at all!
Dollars do NOT dictate beauty! Some of the prettiest wedding gowns I have seen, both casual and formal, have been right on eBay… at a fraction of the cost!
It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for an informal beach wedding dress for your poolside ceremony, a sunrise or sunset ocean front ceremony, or if you are planning to wed onboard a luxury cruise liner…
The destination wedding dress is perfect for every wedding style!
When traveling to your wedding destination, do NOT entrust the safe keeping of your wedding gown to airline attendants. Not long ago, as I stood in the Jacksonville airport, I watched one young girl break down as a baggage handler, presented her with her wedding dress accompanied by an apology. The garment bag was torn open and there were black tire prints on her lovely silk gown. It had apparently slipped off the side of the baggage trolley and been driven over, then dragged back to the terminal from the plane.
